What specific products can ceric ammonium nitrate be used to make?

  • Oxidant: Ceric ammonium nitrate is a strong oxidant and can be used in the production of other oxidants or in industrial processes that require oxidation reactions.
  • Catalyst:
  1. As a catalyst in olefin polymerization reactions to promote the polymerization of olefins.
  2. Used for preparing solid strong acid catalysts. For example, stir and mix ferric chloride hexahydrate with pretreated kaolin and solvent absolute ethanol, add ammonia water to adjust the pH to a specific range to obtain Fe(OH)3 sol containing kaolin; dissolve ceric ammonium nitrate in an appropriate amount of water, add ammonia water to adjust the pH to obtain Ce(OH)4 rare earth sol; mix the two sols for reaction, and after a series of treatments, a solid strong acid catalyst for catalytic synthesis of 2,2-di(2-furyl)propane can be obtained.
  • Analytical reagent:
  1. Often used to prepare standard solutions for redox titration.
  2. Used as a chromogenic agent for detecting polyols by thin-layer chromatography.
  3. Can be used as a raw material for preparing membrane electrode compositions sensitive to phosphate.
  4. Used as a reagent for potentiometric titration to determine various amines.
  • Etching solution: It is one of the common components of chromium etching solution and is used as a circuit board etchant. It undergoes a chemical reaction with the chromium layer on the chromium plate to dissolve chromium in the etching solution.
  • Biodegradable sheet: In the preparation method of a hydrophobic starch-based biodegradable sheet, for example, mix starch and water evenly, add ammonium persulfate after adjusting the pH value of the system, stir at a certain temperature, then add linoleic acid and ceric ammonium nitrate in sequence, stir until the water is drained to obtain pretreated starch, and then mix with other substances, extrude and granulate and other steps to finally make a biodegradable sheet.
  • Graphene-based cerium-based nanocomposite: Place graphite oxide in deionized water and ultrasonically disperse evenly to obtain a graphite oxide aqueous solution; add ceric ammonium nitrate to the graphite oxide aqueous solution and stir evenly, add cadmium nitrate and sodium sulfide, continuously stir and adjust the pH to obtain a mixed reaction system; conduct hydrothermal reaction on the mixed reaction system, and after filtration, washing and drying, grind to obtain graphene-based cerium-based nanocomposite. The three components of graphene, CeO2 and CdS in this material have a good synergistic effect, which can increase the photocatalytic performance of the composite material.
  • Flocculant: It can initiate the graft copolymerization of cassava starch and acrylamide to prepare starch-grafted polyacrylamide flocculant. This flocculant has a good flocculation effect on kaolin suspension.
