1. Raw material preparation: The main raw materials of rare earth chloride are rare earth oxides and hydrochloric acid. Rare earth oxides can be obtained by the beneficiation of rare earth ores, calcination of ores and water leaching extraction. Hydrochloric acid needs to be distilled and concentrated to improve its purity.
2. Dissolution reaction: Rare earth oxides are mixed with hydrochloric acid in a certain proportion and dissolved at an appropriate temperature. The reaction temperature, stirring speed, and reaction time need to be controlled during the reaction to ensure that the reaction is fully carried out and the yield is increased.
3. Chlorination reaction: After the dissolution reaction is completed, the obtained rare earth salt solution is chlorinated. The conditions of the chlorination reaction include temperature, type and amount of chlorinating agent, etc., which have an important impact on the purity and crystal form of the product.
4. Crystallization separation: After the chlorination reaction is completed, the resulting rare earth chloride solution is crystallized and separated. Crystallization separation can be achieved by controlling parameters such as temperature, concentration, and pH. The resulting rare earth chloride crystals can be further refined and purified.
5. Drying and packaging: The obtained rare earth chloride crystals are dried to remove moisture. Then, the dried product is packaged to ensure the quality and shelf life of the product.
