Samarium Oxide in Electronics

Samarium oxide is widely used in the electronics field, primarily because it serves as a raw material for producing samarium metal, which is then used to manufacture various electronic devices. Samarium oxide is also utilized as a ceramic additive in the production of piezoelectric ceramics. It enhances the sinterability and compactness of the ceramics, enabling them to exhibit the appropriate piezoelectric effects. As a result, these ceramics can be applied in electronic components such as piezoelectric sensors and piezoelectric actuators.

Samarium-iron-nitrogen rare-earth permanent magnets, made with samarium oxide as the primary raw material, have a saturation magnetization comparable to that of bonded neodymium-iron-boron magnets. These magnets also possess higher anisotropy and better corrosion resistance. They are ideal for producing high-performance bonded magnets with superior temperature stability and environmental adaptability. Thanks to their excellent magnetic properties, these magnets are well-suited for use in consumer electronics and other related fields.
